KANDAHAR: Five police personnel and 15 Taliban fighters were killed ingunfight in Maroof district in Kandahar province the other night, officialssaid on Monday.
The armed opponents attacked police outposts in Maroof district near theDurand Line the other night, Kandahar police spokesman Zia Durrani toldAfghan Islamic Press. The gunfight lasted till yesterday afternoon.
Five police personnel were killed and nine more sustained injuries in theclash, he said. Similarly, he added that 15 armed opponents were killed and11 more injured in the gunfight, he added.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf Ahmadi told AIP thattheir fighters attacked military checkpoint and other supporting troops inSalison area in Maroof district. Resultantly, he claimed that 22 securitypersonnel were killed, eight more injured and eight others were capturedalive by Taliban.
He went on to say that a Taliban fighter was killed in the clash. Talibanseized multiple weapons in the gunfight, he added.
