Indian national arrested for leaking sensitive information of Indian Defence Attache to Pakistan Agencies

LUCKNOW: A native of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, who worked as a cook atthe house of an Indian diplomat in Pakistan for nearly two years, wasarrested on Tuesday night for allegedly working for Pakistan’s ISI andleaking classified information in exchange of money, Times of India hasreported.

Ramesh Singh, 35, was arrested from his house in Pithoragarh’s Garalivillage in a joint operation by UP’s Anti-Terror Squadlink>(ATS), militaryintelligence and Uttarakhand police. Singh worked with an Indian defenceattaché and bugged his house with the help of to get sensitive information,police said. His elder brother worked with the Indian Armylink>.

Singh was produced in Pithoragarh court on Wednesday from where he wastaken to Lucknow on transit remand. UP ATS IG Asim Arun said Uttarakhand DGPlink> had sought their help inthe case a few months ago and directorate of military intelligence was alsoroped in.

Sources said Singh was into farming when a relative approached him with theoffer of a job of cook in Pakistan. He then worked as a domestic help frommid-2015 to September 2017 at the residence of an Indian defence attaché inPakistan.

Singh then came in contact with Pakistani intelligence, which offered himmoney against classified information from the diplomat’s house. The sourcesaid that Singh shared a diary and documents of the diplomat.
