Pakistan India exchange lists of prisoners

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and India, through diplomatic channels on Sundayexchanged lists of civilian prisoners and fishermen of each other countrylodged in the jails.

In a statement, Foreign office said Pakistan handed over a list of 471Indian prisoners, including 53 civil and 418 fishermen to High Commissionof India in Islamabad on Sunday.

India handed over a list of 249 civilian prisoners and 108 fishermen toPakistan.

The statement the exchange was in line with provisions of Consular AccessAgreement between Pakistan and India, signed on May 21, 2008, under whichboth countries are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’scustody twice a year on January 1 and July 1.

Earlier, Pakistan released two Indian fishermen as a goodwill gesture onFriday.
