WASHINGTON: The United States has moved Pakistan from a watch list toanother group of countries that have taken significant steps to curb humantrafficking, says a report released on Friday.
“The government of Pakistan does not fully meet the minimum standards forthe elimination of trafficking; however, it is making significant effortsto do so,” says the report released by the US State Department.
“The government demonstrated increasing efforts compared to the previousreporting period, therefore, Pakistan was upgraded to Tier 2.”
The move came two days after an international financial watchdog placedPakistan on its monitoring list — known as the ‘grey list’— for allowingterrorist groups to collect funds.
