WASHINGTON – The U.S. government has blocked China Mobile company fromoffering services to the country’s telecommunications market, recommendingits application be rejected because the firm poses national security risks.

The move by President Donald Trump’s administration comes amid growingtrade frictions between Washington and Beijing.

Meanwhile, during a media briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman LuKang has urged the United States to abandon Cold War thinking and zero sumgames.

He said China always encourages its companies to operate in accordance withmarket rules and to respect the laws of the countries it operates in. Healso asked United States to stop putting unreasonable pressure on Chinesefirms.

China’s embassy in Washington has also issued a security advisory toChinese nationals traveling to the United States after trade tensionescalated between the two countries.

The embassy warned Chinese tourists to be aware of issues including threatsof public shootings and robberies, searches and seizures by customs agents.
