Iranian media lauds Imran Khan s approach

TEHRAN (IRNA) : *The meeting between Iran’s envoy and victorious head ofPakistani party that won the latest election appeared among the topheadlines of leading Pakistani media on Saturday.*

Head of Tahreek-e Insaf Imran Khan in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador toIslamabad Mehdi Honardoost said that he was willing to mediate betweenTehran and Riyadh with the aim of resolving Iran-Saudi Arabia disputes.

The Pakistani party has emerged as the main winner in National Assemblygeneral election on July 21.

Imran Khan also announced that his country was seeking to develop relationswith Iran in every sphere.

He expressed assurance that nothing can impede Tehran-Islamabad bilateralties.

‘We want to improve ties with Iran. Saudi Arabia is a friend who has alwaysstood by us in difficult times. Our aim will be that whatever we can do forconciliation in the Middle East, we want to play that role. Those tensions,that fight, between neighbors, we will try to bring them together,’ thePakistani politician said upon the official announcement of the electionresults.

Experts believe Imran Khan’s emphasis on Iran-Pakistan ties in the futurecabinet in Islamabad shows that he is seeking detente in relations withneighbors.

The remarks came amid the US President Donald Trump’s new measures againstIran following his withdrawal from the nuclear deal in May. He has urgedsome countries in the region to accompany the White House in tightening thenoose on Iran’s economy.
