TEHRAN (IRNA) – Head of the Supreme Leader’s military office paid a visitto the domestically-made fighter jet dubbed “Kowsar”.
Brigadier General Mohammad Shirazi paid a visit to an exhibition on Iran’sdefense industries’ achievements.
The official also toured an exhibition showcasing Iran’s defenseachievements.
Iran unveiled its first domestically-made fighter aircraft during a defenseexhibition in Tehran last Tuesday, with President Hassan Rouhani attendingthe ceremony held to mark the country’s defense achievements.
The Kowsar fighter jet has been designed and manufactured in collaborationwith experts of Iran Aviation Industries Organization (IAIO), otherindustrial organizations of the Ministry of Defense, Iranian Air Force,universities and knowledge-based companies.
The domestically-developed fighter aircraft, utilizing a wide network ofthe Iranian knowledge-based companies and industrial organizations of theMinistry of Defense along with other academic and research centers in thecountry, has optimized combat capability of the pilot, localized avionicsand advanced 4th generation fire control as well as mechanical andhydraulic systems and the engine.
The fighter jet features an advanced integrated architecture and firecontrol avionics, the 4th generation digital data network, multi-purposedigital display technology, computerized ballistic calculations of weaponryand the HUD system to increase the accuracy of weapons and ammunition hits,advanced multi-objective fire control radar to enhance the detection oftargets and threats, accurate radio and navigation independence and a smartmapping system.
The jet will be produced in single seat and twin seat versions with thetwin seat expected to be used in training pilots.
