*ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that he will spend Eid ulAzha working at his official residence.*
PM Imran has reportedly decided not to go to his private residence, BaniGala, on Eid-ul-Azha and instead he will be spending the holidays workingat his military secretary’s residence.
Mr. Khan has already moved to a three-bedroom home assigned to the PM’smilitary secretary, instead of the PM House.
The former cricket hero said it was shameful that the sprawling primeminister’s house had 524 staff and a fleet of 80 vehicles, 33 of thembulletproof. The cars are to be sold off with only two kept for the newprime minister.
“I want to tell my people, I will live a simple life, I will save yourmoney,” he said.
The newly sworn-in PM used his first address to the nation to rail againstwaste as his country faces a severe economic crisis.
He also used his Sunday evening address to call on the rich to start payingtaxes and for Pakistani’s living overseas to send their money back todomestic banks to help the country’s foreign currency crisis.
Mr Khan also spoke of his country’s need to tackle poverty and malnutritionand promised to reduce some of the world’s highest maternal death rates andinfant mortality rates.
