*ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has invited a renowned real estatetycoon in the United Kingdom for consultation on the initiative to buildfive million cost-effective housing.*
Aneel Musarrat, a Manchester-based tycoon, on Monday arrived in Islamabadalong with Sahibzada Amir Jehangir. He is one the richest men in the UK andis considered a close friend of Imran Khan.
He is expected to hold consultation with the prime minister on theconstruction of the cost-effective houses, and also on new policies foroverseas Pakistanis. However, Musarrat is not expected to receive anycontracts or investment but rather he will be consulted due to hisexpertise.
Imran Khan had previously hinted to seek Musarrat’s assistance. AneelMusarrat was also present in Banigala when Imran Khan made his victoryspeech after securing the top spot in the July 25 general elections.
Musarrat also has his roots in Pakistan primarily due to his interest inthe political landscape of the country and closeness with the Imran Khan.Last year, Imran attended the lavish wedding ceremony of Aneel’s daughterin Manchester. He had also mentioned him during the speech when he launchedthe party manifesto.
He had also attended the rallies of PTI in the years preceding 2018 and hadfrequently dashed to Pakistan along with Sahibzada Amir Jahangir who isalso the head of PTI UK and Europe chapter.
Last week, Prime Minister Imran Khan has constituted a committee under thesecretary housing and works to devise a comprehensive and coherent plan ofaction for construction of five million affordable houses.
Imran Khan had said the construction of low-cost and affordable fivemillion houses was the foremost priority of the government, which would notonly address housing issues of the people especially in major cities butwould also promote economic growth and create job opportunities.
The plan of action would be prepared in consultation with relevant expertsand representatives of concerned departments. It will take into account allaspects including the legal framework, availability of the land and raisingof required resources for smooth implementation of the project.
