ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has praised PMImran Khan over his dams and water crisis initiative.
The CJP lauded statement of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan regarding watercrisis in the country and said that Supreme Court (SC) will soon conductinternational conference on water.
Earlier, PM has raised concerns over water crisislink the Pakistan’s biggest issue iswater scarcity.
In his video statement to the nation, PM Imran said that he had been takingpresentations on natinal issues, adding that there is no doubt today thatwe are at a crisis situation.
He said that the country’s debt has soard to Rs30,000 billion but one ofour biggest issues to date is the water issue. “When Pakistan was made,every pakistani had 5600 cubic metres of water but today that stands atonly 1000 cubic metres,” he added.

Khan went on to say that we have storage capacity of only 30 days forwater; whereas the safe period for water storage is 120 days, adding thatIndia has capacity of 90 days. This is why making the dam for us is soimportant.
He appealed all Pakistanis, including the overseas ones, to financiallycontribute for construction of dams in Pakistan, that are vital for countrys future generations.
The prime minister also asked overseas Pakistanis, especially those livingin European countries and the United States to contribute at least onethousand dollars in the fund created by Chief Justice of Pakistan.
