ISLAMABAD – The Babe-e-Dosti border crossing at Pak-Afghan border in Chamanremained shut amid growing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan overthe issue of border fencing.
All trade activities through the border crossing remain suspended.
Security officials said Pakistan has extended an offer to open the gate,but Afghan authorities rejected it. However, citizens from both sides areallowed to cross the border by walk.
On the other side, the customs officials said that the suspended economicactivities include the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) suppliesand Afghan Transit Trade among others.——————————
The customs authorities have further divulged that various trucks ofperishable produce naming grapes and pomegranate are stuck on the border.
It is pertinent to mention here that clashes erupted on Oct 14 betweenPakistani and Afghan forces over border fencing near the Durand Line inSpin Boldak district.
