Britain lauds Pakistan Army for rescue operations against 67 stranded British Pilgrims

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Army has been lauded for the rescue operations carriesout for stranded Sikh Pilgrims.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew on Tuesday expressedgratitude to the Pakistan army for airlifting to safety 67 Sikh pilgrimsstranded during the protests in Punjab.

Sharing a video showing the Sikh pilgrims being airlifted by the army’shelicopter on his Twitter account, the UK envoy wrote: “Last week thePakistan Army airlifted to safety 67 British Sikhs on a pilgrimage inPakistan.”

“They’d been stranded at a service station by the protests. Fantasticresponse from the Pakistani authorities. All the pilgrims left the countrysafely. Thank you.”

The three-day countrywide protests over the acquittal of Aasia Bibi in ablasphemy case ended last week when the federal government reached anagreement with the protesters.
