TEHRAN – Head of the Joint Commission of the Islamic Republic of Iran andthe Russian Federation Vice Admiral Osipov lgor Vladimirovich met withChief of Staff for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of IranMohammad Baqeri.

Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian FederationGeneral Osipov along with Russian ambassador and accompanying delegationduring his visit to Iran met with Chief of General Staff of the ArmedForces of the Islamic Republic of Iran Major General Mohammad Baqeri.

Top Russian military official presented a report on the process of forminga joint military commission of the two countries and the points agreed uponby the parties.

Referring to the historical ties between Iran and Russia, General Osipovhighlighted many areas for cooperation between the two countries.

Major General Baqeri also referred to the most sensitive current situationin the region and the world and the necessity of establishing convergencelinks between the Iranian and Russian armed forces against terrorism andsaid the success of the two armed forces in the process of confrontingterrorism in Syria and the defeat of Takfiri terrorists and theirsupporters in the region demonstrate the determination of Iran and Russiato deal with threats.

Senior Iranian military official emphasized that geopolitical andgeo-strategic capabilities of Iran and Russia require the two countries’armed forces to develop and distinguish their cooperation areas in along-term perspective and to manage and plan them within the framework ofthe Joint Military Commission’s agreements. – IRNA
