ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked the UN Secretary General tourgently dispatch a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the gravesituation in Indian occupied Kashmir in line with recommendations of theJune 2018 report of UN Human Rights Commissioner on human rights in Kashmir.
He made this demand during a telephonic conversation with Secretary Generalof United Nations António Guterres.
The Prime Minister called upon the United Nations to take stock of gravehuman rights violations in Occupied Kashmir.
He expressed deep concern over the gross human rights violations by theIndian security forces in the held territory.
He highlighted especially the recent killing of 15 innocent Kashmiris andinjuries to more than 300 protesters.
The Prime Minister termed the situation in Occupied Kashmir as unacceptable.
He reiterated the proposal to appoint a Special UN Representative forresolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
He said Jammu and Kashmir dispute is not a bilateral issue between Pakistanand India, but an internationally recognized dispute and an outstandingagenda item in the UN Security Council.
Imran Khan said imposition of Presidential Rule in Occupied Kashmir has thedanger of further aggravating the already serious situation.
The Prime Minister urged the Secretary General to weigh in and to stopIndia from perpetrating state repression, violence and brute force againstKashmiri youth, women and children.
