BEIJING – Foreign Ministry on Tuesday called for restraint and dialogue asIndia-Pakistan ties worsened after attacks in Kashmir.
Spokesperson Geng Shuang made the remarks in response to a query aboutChina’s role in easing tensions between the two neighbors.
A suicide blast in Indian-controlled Kashmir last week left 40 paramilitarytroopers dead. New Delhi blamed Islamabad for the attack but the latterrejected the allegations.
“Both Pakistan and India are important countries in South Asia. Thestability of bilateral relations is crucial to regional peace, stabilityand development,” Geng said.
South Asia is on the whole stable currently, Geng said, stressing that thehard-won situation deserved to be cherished and upheld by all partiesconcerned.
In a televised address to the nation Tuesday, Pakistani Prime MinisterImran Khan asked India to share “actionable evidence” regarding the attackand said Pakistan would extend cooperation in the investigation.
The Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.- Xinhua/APP
