BEIJING: Chinese Defence Ministry’s Spokesperson Senior Col Ren GauchengThursday hoped that India and Pakistan would exercise restraint, properlyhandle their outstanding issues through dialogue and coordination andprevent from further escalation.
“We have noticed the latest development between India and Pakistan and weare closely watching the situation,” he said during his monthly briefingwhile responding to a question in this regard.
He observed that India and Pakistan were two major countries in South Asia,adding, “A harmonious relations between the two countries serves theinterests of the two countries as well as peace and stability anddevelopment in the region and the world.”
The spokesperson hoped that two sides could exercise restraint, properlyhandle related issues through dialogue and coordination and prevent fromfurther escalation.
To another question, he said both Pakistan and India were friends of Chinaand the Chinese side believed in that top priority of the two nations wasto exercise restraint and resolve the issue through dialogue andcoordination so as to prevent any further escalation of tension.
