ISLAMABAD – US Special Representative for Afghanistan ReconciliationAmbassador Zalmay Khalilzad has expressed his appreciation for PrimeMinister Imran Khan’s recent remarks in support of the Afghan peace processand broader vision for stability and prosperity in the region.
A statement issued by the US embassy in Islamabad today said during histwo-day visit, Ambassador Khalilzad requested and received support for theneed to accelerate intra-Afghan dialogue process.
During his visit, Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad held discussions withPakistani leadership on developments in the Afghan peace process.
US Ambassador for Afghanistan, reiterated that an end to the war will bringlong overdue peace and stability for Afghans and an independent Afghanistanthat precludes it from being used by terrorists to attack the United Statesor any other country.

Khalilzad further said that peace holds particular significance for theregion by facilitating regional economic integration.
