A New twist in US and Afghan Taliban historic peace deal

ISLAMABAD – A New twist has been reported in US and Afghan Taliban historicpeace deal that would end the 18 years long war in Afghanistan.

According to reports, the U.S. State Secretary Mike Pompeo has declined toa sign a peace deal between Washington and the Taliban group.

The American Time Magazine, citing the informed U.S. and Afghan officialshas reported that draft deal prepared by Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad after9 rounds of peace talks, does not guarantee key issues.

The report further added that the continued presence of U.S. forces tocombat terror groups like al-Qaeda, continued U.S. support to pro-U.S.Afghan government and an end to conflict are among the issues which are notguaranteed in the deal.

On the other, the Taliban group has asked Pompeo to sign the deal with theIslamic Emirte of Afghanistan, the official name of the government foundedby the Taliban in 1996.

According to Time Magazine, the mentioned issues may explain why Pompeodeclined to put his name on the deal.
