ISLAMABAD – The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China hashanded over three cargo scanning machines to Customs Collectorate of theJinnah International Airport (JIAP) in Karachi. These machines are given asa gift by the Consulate General to Pakistan Customs.
These machines will be utilised for screening of cargo at Air Freight Unit(AFU), Immediate Clearing Group (ICG), Airport Ramp Area and Express MailUnit (EMU) at the airport. These machines will help in quick clearance,reduction in dwell time of goods at airport effective customs control andhigher trade facilitation.
Feroz Alam Junejo welcomed the guests and thanked Chinese Consulate athanding over ceremony. The Consulate General Mr. Wang Yu reiterated thesupport of the consulate of Pakistan Customs in efforts of modernisation.
Member Customs Agha Jawaad highlighted the initiatives taken formodernisation of the department to achieve the objective of revenuecollection, trade facilitation and effective Customs controls.
He was of the view that introduction of Non Intrusive Inspection (NII) isin line with the international best practices which will strengthen theCustoms controls at borders.
