National Assembly seats to be increased in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to table a bill that seeks an increase in the National Assembly seats. According to sources, the government is all set to table a move constitutional amendment bill for voting at the National Assembly this week.

National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has called a meeting of parliamentary parties on Tuesday at the request of the government.

It may be mentioned here that on October 27 an important meeting, headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (r) Sardar Muhammad Raza, was held at the Election Commission, Islamabad, to discuss matters pertaining to new electoral demarcations and voters lists.

The CEC had called the meeting to discuss the issues and matters that need to be resolved before the general elections, less than a year away.

Among other issues and matters, the ECP is imparting training to its officers over new electoral constituencies, as its being ready to take up the task of electoral constituencies under the old or the new laws; however, it may be.
