Ahmed Noorani: Who attacked him and Why

ISLAMABAD: Ahmed Noorani unfortunate attack has opened a pendora box of new blame game in the country. Some have blamed it a job of some intelligence agency and few have termed it a result of inter agency rivalry.

All sorts of allegations and counter allegations have surfaced in this regard. However this only has added to the instability in the Pakistan. The incident coming in a series of events simultaneously along with Afghan deputy governor kidnapping from Peshawar and train blast in Balochistan.

The same type of allegations were labelled once the Karachi activist and Baloch human rights speaker Sabeen Mehmood was killed in Karachi and the lobby within and outside the Pakistan raised the same speculations against the agencies.

However at the end terrorist group backed by Indian agencies was found to be involved in the case. This time also the criminal elements at the payroll of enemy agencies have hit Ahmed Noorani for the following reasons.

1. To destabilise Pakistan 

2. To create hatred against Intelligence Agency 

3. To blame Pakistan Army 

4. To further deepen the civil military divide 

5. To raise the human rights issue in Pakistan 

6. To bring the media against the establishment 

DG ISPR had also hinted at the same conspiracy during his statement.The Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor condemned the attack on senior journalist Ahmad Noorani.

The DG ISPR expressed good wishes for the journalist and prayed for his speedy recovery, Geo News reported."Attack on Ahmed Noorani condemned."He added that the assault was a malicious attempt to cause unrest and assured full support in catching the culprits and bringing them to justice.

A representative of the military's media wing visited the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where Noorani is under treatment, with flowers for the injured journalist with a bouquet, added Geo News.

Noorani's condition is steadily improving, the journalist's brother told Geo News on Saturday.

He is currently admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of PIMS in Islamabad.

Noorani was assaulted on Khayabane Suharwardy road on Friday.

His car was stopped by three men travelling on a motorcycle near Zero Point Interchange while the journalist was on his way home in Islamabad from Rawalpindi.

The three men got down from their unmarked motorcycle after chasing down Noorani's car while another three, who were standing where the car was stopped with another unmarked motorcycle, joined in and severely beat up Noorani and his driver with iron rods after throwing out the keys from the ignition.

The police have registered a case over the incident and the investigation is underway.
