PM Imran Khan to meet Chief Justice of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan is likely to meet Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar soon.

PM Khan will discuss judicial reforms with the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

The government plans to draft a package of judicial reforms in consultation with the CJP and chief justices of all high courts.

The cabinet has already approved a judicial reforms task force headed by Law Minister Farogh Nasim, that will draft the proposed package aimed at ensuring “speedy and fair disposal of all civil cases within one year and to clear the backlog of pending cases”.

“Revolutionizing access to justice” is among the 35 promises made by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government before general elections on July 25 during its first 100 days in office. The First 100 Days Agenda consists of “a set of commitments” pertaining to “six themes” that the new PTI government aimed to work on during the first 100 Days of Imran Khan taking charge.
