Turkish ambassador in Pakistan hosts reception on Victory Day

ISLAMABAD (APP): Turkish Ambassador to Islamabad Babur Girgin and Defence Attache Wing Cdr Murat Ikiz hosted a reception at a local hotel here Tuesday to celebrate 94th anniversary of their country's Victory Day.

Victory Day is commemorated by Turkey to mark its success in the Battle of Dumlupinar which was the decisive battle in the Turkish War of Independence in 1922.

Turkey Victory Day honors the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatrk, and the military victory over the Greeks in 1922.

Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Mohammad Zakaullah was chief guest at the reception which was attended, among others, by Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, National Security Advisor, Lt. Gen. (R) Nasser Khan Janjua, politicians, diplomats from various countries and members of the community from cross sections of society.

The chief guest together with the Turkish Ambassador and other dignitaries cut a cake to mark the event. National anthems of Turkey and Pakistan were also played on the occasion.

Turkish Ambassador Babur Girgin on this occasion read a message of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

President Erdogan in his message said Turkey was determined to defeat the terrorist organizations without any discrimination, as they wanted to hinder the development of country.

He said Turkey was determined to take all necessary measures to defeat the terrorist organizations like IS and Daish to ensure security of its citizens.

Turkish action against terrorists would continue until all of them were eliminated, President Erdogan declared.

Pakistan and Turkey enjoy close brotherly and friendly relations and share each others' joys and sorrows.
