All Pakistan Music Conference 2016 plan

LAHORE (APP): A week-long All Pakistan Music Conference-2016 (APMC) will commence from September 19, Monday instead of October 2016.

APMC Secretary General Prof. Dr Ghazala Irfan told APP here Tuesday that festival was a regular annual feature conducted in every October.

To a question, she explained that APMC organizers decided to start it earlier in September due to sacred month of Muharram ul Haram in October this year.

Giving details of various tentative activities/programmes of the festival, she said that a lecture, demonstration by Sheema Kermani and Life Time Achievement Award Ceremony would be held on the opening day (September 19) of the festival at 6:00pm.

Dr. Ghazala Irfan said that second day of the festival (September 20) would feature: Students (up to age 10) Contest for Certificates and Javed Ahmed Qureshi Trophy for the Best School; Students Contest for Medals and Ghazanfar Trophy for The Best School/O-Level; Students Contest for Medals and Syed Wajid Ali Trophy for The Best College/A-Level/University; Vocal Classical Music Contest for Roshan Ara Begum Shield for the Best Student; and Amateurs Contest for Medals and Hayat Ahmad Khan Trophy for The Best Music Academy.

On September 21, she added, the programme 'Gharano Ki Miraas' would be held at 6:00pm. The vocalists belonging to classical singers' families from across Pakistan would perform in the programme, she said this while responding to another query.

While, Folk and Light Classical Music event, and Classical Music programme would be held on September 22 and 23, 2016 respectively, she maintained.

The APMC Secretary General said that prize distribution ceremony would be held on the last day (September 24) of the music conference, adding that vocalists of Folk, Light Classical, and Classical Music, would also perform at the ceremony.
