Pakistani Skipper Babar Azam personal WhatsApp message leaks stir new controversy

The personal WhatsApp message leak involving national cricket team captain Babar Azam has been a hot topic in both mainstream media and social media over the past day.

Two days ago, Rashid Latif, a former wicketkeeper of the national team, made a claim on a show that Babar Azam had been sending messages to Chairman PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf, CEO Salman Naseer, and Director of International Cricket Usman Wahla. However, according to Rashid Latif, these messages were being ignored by the three board members.

In response, Chairman PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf gave an interview on a private TV channel yesterday, during which he refuted Rashid Latif's statement and expressed regret. Zaka Ashraf asserted that Babar Azam had never attempted to contact him directly, contradicting Rashid Latif's claim that the team captain, director of international cricket, or the CEO had reached out to him.

During the interview, Chairman PCB displayed a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation between Babar Azam and CEO Salman Naseer, which was broadcast on TV. In this exchange, Salman Naseer asked Babar Azam about reports circulating in the media and on social media regarding his attempts to contact Zaka Ashraf. Babar Azam's response was, "Salman brother, I have not made any call to Sir, i.e., Zaka Ashraf."

Chairman PCB faced heavy criticism from former captain Azhar Ali and other social media users for sharing Babar Azam's personal message on television. This incident has also sparked questions on social media, with many wondering whether Zaka Ashraf obtained permission from the team captain before disclosing Babar Azam's personal message to the public.
