LAHORE – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) newly elected MPA Nadeem Bara hasbeen booked under terrorism charges for thrashing police officials incity’s Hanjarwal area, SP Maaz Zafar said on Sunday.

Security officers led by SHO Hangerwal Rana Afzal were dispatched to Bara’sresidence after reports of aerial firing were received on Saturday’s night.

“Upon reaching the crime scene, the SHO and his men were physicallyassaulted by MPA-elect Nadeem Bara, who, along with his aides, tore theiruniforms and fled the scene right after,” Zafar added.

On this, a case was later registered against 49 suspects under terrorismcharges, including Nadeem Bara and Muneer Bara. The wounded officials wereshifted to Jinnah Hospital for treatment, the SP further informed.

“Twenty-one suspects have been arrested so far,” he added.

On Sunday, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar also orderedthe arrest of Nadeem Bara and his supporters for thrashing police officials.

CJP Nisar further directed Inspector General (IG) Punjab Kaleem Imam andother officers to appear before the top court on Monday.
