ISLAMABAD – A Russian delegation led by Deputy Director General RussiaSergey and Chief Counsellor of Presidential Administration Valery Molostovcalled on National Security Adviser Lt General (Retd) Nasser Khan Janjuahere on Thursday to discuss prospects of bilateral relations and defensecooperation between the two countries.
The delegation said that Russia considers Pakistan as a reliable partner inSouth Asia and is keen to develop strong bilateral relations in allpossible areas.They mentioned of Russian support for Pakistan in different internationalorganizations including UN and SCO.
They also expressed desire to strengthen cooperation in counter terrorismand offered technical assistance to Pakistan in this area.
They appreciated Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and said, “Pakistanhas conducted large scale operations against terrorism and we want to shareour skills in this area”.
They regarded military and technical cooperation as a strongest impetus todevelop political, trade and economic relations. They also offeredcooperation in the domain of cyber security.
Nasser Janjua appreciated Russian spirits to improve the bilateralrelationship. He briefed the delegates about regional security situationand the prospects of greater connectivity.
He said both Pakistan and Russian Federation were two fortunate countrieswho had risen beyond the past to write a fresh and enduring chapter offriendship and cooperation for a better and a brighter future. – APP
