Strengthening of private sector vital for economic development: President

President Dr. Arif Alvi has said strengthening private sector through promotion of local goods and industry is of paramount importance for economic development of the country.
This he said while talking to the delegations of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which called on him separately in Islamabad.
The President emphasized that revival of national economy is the top most priority of the government for which industrial and business community should also play their constructive role.
He stressed the need to increase country's exports to decrease the trade deficit.
He urged the business community to promote research in various fields so that new opportunities for the national industry and commerce can be determined in accordance with international trends.
Meanwhile, President Dr. Arif Alvi has called for public campaign to create awareness among masses regarding the filing of complaints to the Wafaqi Mohtasib.
Talking to Federal Ombudsman Syed Tahir Shahbaz in Islamabad on Wednesday, he directed to hold quarterly seminars around the country for awareness among general public for approaching the Wafaqi Mohtasib for resolution of their grievances.
The President also agreed to chair a joint seminar of Federal and Provincial Ombudsmen to sensitize the people about the role of these offices that resolve the complaints of general public at their doorsteps.
He advised to take onboard Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority for telecasting the awareness campaign in resolving the public complaints by Wafaqi Mohtasib.
He also directed to launch a mobile App to facilitate the general public in accessing the services offered by the Wafaqi Mohtasib.
On the occasion, the Federal Ombudsman briefed the President about the performance of Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat during the year.
