Senator Rehman Malik writes a letter to PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD – Senator Rehman Malik has has written a letter to the PrimeMinister Imran Khan over the issue of the RTS failure in the generalelections 2018.

He has requested Prime Minister Imran Khan to constitute a technicalcommittee to probe shutdown of election results software on the polling day.

In a letter addressed to the PM, Malik mentioned that the Senate hadentrusted the Standing Committee on Interior with looking after theelections proceedings, and as the country’s interior minister Imran Khan isobliged to assist the committee in its probe.

The committee had asked the Election Commission of Pakistan to investigatethe failure of the Results Transmission System (RTS), identify thoseresponsible and suggest action against them, the Pakistan Peoples Partyleader wrote.

Malik further wrote that it is in the national interest to probe the RTScollapse and asked for directives to be issued to the Cabinet division atthe earliest to form a technical committee to probe the matter.

Earlier this week, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held NADRAresponsible for the RTS shutdown on July 25, according to sources. Theparty had reportedly formed an investigative committee headed by PTIParliamentary leader in the Senate, Azam Swati, to look into the RTScollapse.
