Dasu and Diamer Bhasha Dams critical for energy security of Pakistan

KOHISTAN: (APP) Chairman WAPDA Lt. Gen. (Retd) Muzammil Hussain on Friday said that to cater the increasing demand of energy in the country construction of Diamar Bhasha dam and Dasu Hydor Power projects is very important.
He said this during his visit at both the projects on Friday.

He said that acquisition and construction of basic infrastructure for both the hydle projects is in progress.
Chairman WAPDA said that keeping in view of the importance of these projects we have opted a special strategy to start the construction work.
WAPDA Chairman during a meeting in Challas with Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan also discussed the matters of land acquisition, rehabilitation of dam affected persons, social uplift program and other developmental projects initiated by the WAPDA.

Later, a Jirga of local elders led by member KPK Assembly Abdul Sattar Khan met with Chairman WAPDA and discussed several issues pertaining to land and development of the area.

Chairman WAPDA on this occasion was also briefed about the construction of project colony and rehabilitation of dam affected people.
