How Gwadar Port is better than all other regional ports

ISLAMABAD, Apr 24 (APP): Chairman Gwadar Port Trust Dosteen Khan Jamaldini Sunday said that Gwadar port would prove to be a game changer for Pakistan and it would strengthen the international economy as well.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that this port would serve as a gateway and center for economic and commercial activities.

He said that Gawadar port had been inaugurated in 2007 and some work had been done in terms of Road and Rail connectivity but in 2014-5 these projects were launched afresh in 2016.

He said that many projects are in the pipeline and by this year ships would also be started to be anchored here.

Dosteen Khan said that so far government owned cargos are arriving here and the major import of Euria fertilizer is taking place. "Commercial ships are not arriving so far and I think the reason is that no industrial projects have been launched in Gwadar," he added.

To a question, he said that Gwadar seaport has greater room of expansion and this has the land of 50 km comprising on the area of seaport.  Cha-Bahar is a small seaport and even Salala port of Oman has no land, we have vast land and we could build eight more berths at the moment, he added.

He maintain that indeed Gwadar seaport needs a big push in terms of development and Pakistan and China are engaged in imparting training to the local people to cater to future needs of this region.

He said that Gwadar port authority and Gwadar Development Authority are two institutions which have some 90 percent of the local employees. There are two colleges in this town and third is to be raised by both Pakistan and China by the name of Pak-China Technical College, he added.

He said that people of Makran Division are comparatively more educated and skillful than the else parts of Balochistan and could play an important role in development of the country.
