Imran Khan hits out at Sharif family over new revelations in British Media

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Sunday shared thedetails of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s properties in London,saying that how the Pakistani nation’s wealth was looted through moneylaundering.

In his tweet – Imran Khan shared a link to a report of Daily Mail on histwitter account – mentioning above caption that “more on how the Pakistanination’s wealth was looted through money laundering by corrupt rulers andtheir families.”

The report shared details of Sharif family properties in London. Daily Mailreport titled, “Penthouse pirates: How the mega-rich former prime ministerof Pakistan and his sons have ploughed millions into London’s swankiestaddresses to amass a vast property empire.”

The report refers to the Avenfield properties — on which one of thereferences filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against theSharif family is based.

“The family has made huge profits from other sites which have not figuredin court – such as the swankiest address of all, at One Hyde Park Place,which Nawaz Sharif’s son Hassan sold for £43 million. Untangling the web ofthe Sharifs’ British real estate portfolio is not easy. The properties areregistered via a bewildering network of companies, trusts and bankaccounts,” the report stated.

On the other hand, Sharif family is facing NAB cases, the trial against theSharif family had commenced on September 14, 2017.

The corruption references, filed against the Sharifs, pertain to theAl-Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Establishment, offshore companiesincluding Flagship Investment Ltd, and Avenfield properties of London.

Nawaz and sons Hussain and Hasan are accused in all three referenceswhereas his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Safdar are accused in theAvenfield reference only.
