Why Chinese Vice President is coming to Pakistan?

BEIJING – Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan’s upcoming visit to Pakistanwill further deepen high-level exchanges, friendship and mutual trustbetween China and Pakistan and advance development of the China-PakistanEconomic Corridor (CPEC) besides bilateral cooperation across the board, aChinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson said on Friday.

“We believe the vice president’s visit will further deepen high-levelexchanges, friendship and mutual trust between China and Pakistan andadvance the CPEC development and our cooperation across the board,” Lu Kangsaid while responding to a question of APP regarding the significance ofthe visit during his daily press briefing held here.

He said the visit would inject a new impetus in a closer community ofshared future in a new era for two countries.The spokesperson said the Chinese vice president would be visiting Pakistanfrom May 26 to 28 at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“Wang Qishan will be meeting with President Arif Alvi and hold talks withPrime Minister Imran Khan and exchange views on deepening bilateralrelations and international and regional issues of mutual interests,” headded.

Lu Kang remarked that China and Pakistan were all-weather strategiccooperative partners and iron friends, adding, “We firmly support eachother on issues concerning each other’s foreign interests.”

Pakistan, he said, had been a priority on China’s diplomacy and added, now,both the countries witnessed a sound momentum in their cooperation andfrequent high level exchanges.

He observed that both the countries were deepening the mutually beneficialcooperation and conducting close coordination in international and regionalaffairs.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan attended the second Belt and Road Forum (BRF)held in China last month, and met with President Xi Jinping, Premier LiKeqiang and Vice President Wang Qishan,” he added.

The spokesperson said that both sides signed many bilateral cooperationagreements during the visit.

The Chinese vice president will also visit Lahore and Taxila during hisvisit which will mark another milestone in the bilateral relations.
