ISLMAABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said PTI government will makeappointments on merit to improve governance and transparency.

Addressing after the launching ceremony of four trains in Islamabad onFriday, the Prime Minister said public sector enterprises have become lossmaking entities due to political interventions and appointments made onpersonal connections in the past.

He said each year a loss of 500 billion rupees accrues in theseorganizations. In power sector alone, the losses have reached to an amountof 1200 billion rupees.

The Prime Minister said ultimately it is the people who have to pay morefor goods and services in order to compensate for the losses of publicsector enterprises.

He urged the Railways Minister to get rid of employees who were appointedon political basis in previous governments and are not contributingpositively to the department.
