Top religious leader killed in Karachi in an apparent attack of target killing

KARACHI: Top religious leader killed in Karachi in an apparent attack of target killing, police sources have revealed.

As per media report, Three people were killed and two others injured in two incidents of firing at vehicles belonging to Darul Uloom Korangi in Karachi on Friday.

Two people were killed as their car was fired at near the NIPA Chowrangi flyover. Police said the men identified as Moulana Amir Shahabullah and his guard Sanober Khan were critically injured and were shifted to a hospital where they succumbed to their wounds.

A passer-by was injured as the car hit him during the attack, police added.

Moulana Shahabullah was en route to a mosque to lead Friday prayers when his car came under attack, officials said. The car, a Toyota Corolla 2007 model, was registered in the name of Darul Uloom Korangi.

Four assailants on two motorcycles fired at the car from both sides at least eight times and fled, police said. It is believed to be an incident of targeted killing, the officials further stated.

Officials from the crime unit and investigative teams reached the site of the incident and gathered evidence. Nine bullets of 9mm-bore were found at the site, police said.
