Pervaiz Rashid to be reinstated as Federal Minister in a veiled message to establishment over Dawn Leaks

ISLAMABAD – Pervaiz Rashid is likely to take charge as federal minister for one more time, a leading daily has claimed on Monday. It would be a message to the establishment on the Dawn Leaks episode that Nawaz Sharif stance was right.

According to daily Khabrain, the federal government, on the instructions of Nawaz Sharif, has decided to induct Pervaiz Rashid into the federal cabinet for the last 7 days of its tenure.

The purpose of this decision is to reinstate all the victims of Dawn Leaks to their original positions so that the all-powerful military establishment could be given a message, says the report.

Earlier, the government of PM Khaqan Abbasi announced to appoint Rao Tehseen as Director General Radio; Rao was sacked along with Pervaiz Rashid, after the conclusion of inquiry on Dawn Leaks, however, he has not taken charge of his office.

The report claimed that Pervaiz will be reappointed as Federal Minister for information and broadcasting because the incumbent minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has riled the former premier Nawaz Sharif with her remarks that his statement regarding Mumbai attacks had nothing to do with PML-N.

Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid had resigned from his position after a probe by security agencies into the leaked story published in Dawn with the title ‘Act against militants or face international isolation, civilians tell military’ that unfurled details of a top-secret civil-military meeting.

Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of premier Nawaz Sharif, had expressed a few days back that Rasheed should have retained his post after the Dawn leaks saga.
