Is honour killing allowed in Islam?

ISLAMABAD (APP): Ulema and Mashaikh from various schools of thought Wednesday said that Islam does not allow any sort of extra judicial murder and killings on account of religion, honor and prejudice.

Addressing "Ulema Mashaikh Convention" they said that Ulema and religious leadership in Pakistan should wage united efforts to eliminate extremist thinking and radical mindset which was problematic for the entire world and Pakistan.

The Ulema and Mashaikh Convention was organized by Pakistan Ulema Council.

The speakers stated that extremist organizations like Daesh (IS) were being formed and strengthened to defame Muslims and Islam across the world adding that religious sections of society in Turkey had played frontline role in defeating revolt against democratic government.

Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi addressing the convention urged Ulema and Mashaikh to come forward to educate youths of the country against extremist ideologies.

He said that India was among those major countries providing arms and ammunition to Daesh and warlords of Daesh attacking at all those countries which are anti Bashar-ul-Asad and supporting people of Syria.

He also said that Muslim Ummah should get united against all those aiming at playing havoc with peace and security of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council also appreciated unanimous stance of Islamic world on prevailing Turkish issue adding that Indian forces cannot sustain anymore oppression against people of Kashmir and the day is not far off when people of Kashmir will get freedom from India.

President Pakistan Ulema Council Islamabad Maulana Abdul Hameed Sabri said that "Takfeeri and Kharji" groups were responsible for attacking at Madina Munawwara and all these elements are traitors of Muslims and Islam. Entire Muslim world was acknowledged bravery of the security personnel who foiled attacks at Masjid-e-Nabvi.

He said that contrary to all sorts of prejudices and sectarian affiliations, Pakistan Ulema Coucil is making efforts for the cause of "Toheed-o-Sunnah".

Vice President Pakistan Ulema Council Punjab Maulana Nauman Hashir said that PUC was making efforts for the rights of non-Muslims in Pakistan adding that Constitution of Pakistan has categorically defined rights for Non-Muslims living in Pakistan and every section of society should function as per their constitutional

parameters.

General Secretary Pakistan Ulema Council Maulana Tahir Aqeel Awan speaking on this occasion said that people of Pakistan will not hesitate to lay any sort of sacrifice for the defense and security of Haramain Al-Sharifain and Turkey.

He also warned US, India and other foreign forces to shun conspiracies against Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan.

Meanwhile Sheikh-ul-Hadish Maulana Ahmed addressing the conventions said that conspiracies were being hatched against Muslim world with sole objective to weaken the Ummah. Amidst this scenario, Muslim leadership needed to pursue way of their ancestors and seek guidance from Quran-o-Sunnah.

He said, "Quran terms killing of an individual as killing of the entire humankind and elements playing havoc with blood of innocent people could neither be Muslims nor representatives of Muslims.

Later, talking to media, Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi regretted the honor killing of social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch and demanded merit based investigations of the killing.

Ulema and Mashaykh Convention also approved a resolution condemning killing of Mufti Habib-ur-Rehman and demanded of Sindh Government to arrest killers of Mufti Habib-ur-Rehman.
