Kashmiris striving for peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute: Mirwaiz

In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that the people of Kashmir are striving for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute that has afflicted enormous sufferings and pain to them.
Addressing a gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today (Friday), the Mirwaiz criticized the Indian government for suspending the trade across the Line of Control. He said that India is snapping the contact between the divided families across the LoC. He said that such measures are being taken for short term gains and would cost a huge price for the people of Kashmir.
On the other hand, the people in the Indian Parliamentary constituency of Srinagar rejected the election drama, yesterday. Over 85 percent of the voters did not cast their votes and even a single vote was not cast in 90 polling booths.
The Acting Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Abdul Hameed Butt, in a statement in Srinagar, today, hailed the people for rejecting the sham elections.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, and other Hurriyat leaders in their statements paid glowing tributes to prominent martyred freedom leader, S Hameed Wani, on his martyrdom anniversary. He was killed in Soura area of Srinagar on 18 April 1998.
