China reassures unwavering support to Pakistan

BEIJING – China has assured its unwavering support to Pakistan’ssovereignty, territorial integrity and socio-economic development.

The assurance was extended by Vice President Wang Qishan while talking toForeign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi who called on him in Beijing onTuesday.

Reaffirming the time-tested and all weather strategic cooperativepartnership between Pakistan and China, Vice President expressedsatisfaction at the upward trajectory of bilateral ties since the visit ofthe Prime Minister to China in November last year.

The Foreign Minister thanked the Vice President for China’s steadfastsupport to Pakistan. He briefed Vice President on the recent developmentsin the region and thanked China for playing an important role in easing oftensions.

The Foreign Minister apprised the Vice President on progress in developmentof China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Both sides agreed that smoothimplementation of CPEC will greatly contribute to socio-economicdevelopment of Pakistan.

Foreign Minister also conveyed greetings of Prime Minister Imran Khan toVice President Wang Qishan. He said Prime Minister of Pakistan is lookingforward to visit them next month to attend the 2nd Belt and Road Forum.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also held strategic talks with hisChinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in Beijing today.

Both sides discussed different issues of bilateral concern with specificfocus on law and order situation in the region.

They also exchanged views on Afghan peace and reconciliation process andagreed to continue their joint efforts for restoration of peace andstability in Afghanistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said China has madecommendable efforts for deescalating tension and restoring peace in theregion.

He said we are thankful to the government and people of China for standingby Pakistan in critical situation.

He said Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region.

For his part, the Chinese Foreign Minister said Pakistan has madecommendable efforts to ease tension and establish peace in the region.

Meanwhile, talking to Minister International Department for Communist Partyof China Song Tao in Beijing, Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah MahmoodQureshi has emphasized on further strengthening of ties between PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf and Communist Party of China.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said party level exchanges to enhance bilateralrelations.

He said all the political parties of Pakistan are on the same pageregarding China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The two sides agreed to enhance party level exchanges in future.
