Salman Khan's Race 3 breaks all records of 2018

MUMBAI - After emerging as the biggest opener of the year till now, Salman Khan <link>-starrer *Race 3* <link> has entered the 100 crore club <link> in the first weekend itself.

Collecting Rs 39.16 crore on Sunday, the total domestic collection for *Race 3* first weekend went to Rs 106 crore. The movie also reached the second spot on the list of Top grossers in the opening weekend. Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor's *Padmaavat* maintains the top spot with Rs 114 crore.

With the exception of *Tubelight*, in recent time, Salman Khan's Eid releases have reached the 100 crore club in the opening weekend run.

*Bajrangi Bhaijaan *- Rs 102.60 crore

*Sultan* - Rs 105.53 crore

*Tubelight* - Rs 64.77 crore

*Tiger Zinda Hai* - Rs 114.93 crore

*Race 3* has overshadowed John Abraham's *Parmanu <link>* and all female-lead *Veere Di Wedding* <link> starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam K Ahuja, Swara Bhasker, and Shikha Talsania. In the third week since release, *Parmanu* collected a total of Rs 60.05 crore. *Veere Di Wedding* put a little over Rs 77 crore in the kitty.

The Remo D'Souza-directorial witnessed an upward trend on day two by minting Rs. 29.17 crore on Day 1. The Eid release fetched Rs 38.14 crore at the box office, taking the two day total to Rs. 67.31 crore.

After *Ek Tha Tiger* (Rs 32.93 crore) and *Sultan* (Rs 36.54 crore), *Race 3* got the third-highest opening for a Salman Khan film on the occasion of Eid.

Critics have not been kind <link> to the movie because of the logic-defying storyline and incoherent plot. But that does not matter when it comes to Bhai's followers who are flocking to theatres to watch high-octane action scenes and corny dialogues.

*Race 3* is a stand-alone sequel to the hit franchise 'Race'. With the third instalment, Salman has replaced Saif Ali Khan, who played the lead in first two films.

Starring an ensemble cast of Salman, Jacqueline, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Freddy Daruwala, Saqib Saleem, and Daisy Shah, the film hit the theatres on June 15.
