KARACHI – Prime Minister Imran Khan has thanked citizens of Karachi for agenerous donation of Rs 76 crore to the dam fund.
The dams fund has earlier crossed the mark of Rs 3 billion as reported byState Bank of Pakistan.
During his one-day visit to the metropolis on September 16, the premier hadattended a fundraiser for the Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam fund at theSindh Governor House.
“I want to thank the people of Karachi for their generosity in supportingthe Dam Fund. Rs 76 crores were raised at this Dam fundraiser,” PM Imranposted on Twitter.Photo: Imran Khan Twitter
Last week, President Dr Arif Alvi had appealed to the nation, particularlyoverseas Pakistanis, to donate to the dams fund.
In a video message, President Alvi said that Pakistan was facing an acuteshortage of water, and the condition was expected to become much worse bythe year 2025.
