70th Independence Day celebrations at government level across Pakistan

SLAMABAD : The nation is celebrating Independence Day on Sunday, 14th August with traditional zeal with pledge to safeguard the country against any threat and make it a truly Islamic welfare state as envision by founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The day dawn with thirty-one gun salute in the federal and twenty-one gun salute at the provincial capitals.

Special prayers being offered for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of the country, unity of the Muslim Ummah and for the success of the long drawn struggle of the Kashmiris after Fajr prayers.

The main event of the day is the flag hoisting ceremony at Convention Center in Islamabad where President Mamnoon Hussain is the chief guest. He addresses the nation on this occasion.

A simple but graceful Change of Guard ceremony being held at Mazar-e-Iqbal on Sunday morning. People belonging to various segments of society visiting the Mazar to pay tribute to the national poet.

Flag hoisting ceremonies being held at the provincial capitals and district headquarters besides other important national institutions.

Meanwhile, all the major public and private buildings, roads and avenues have been decorated with illuminations, national flags, portraits of the national leaders, banners and buntings to give a festive look.

Radio Pakistan Special Transmission

Radio Pakistan will broadcast a special full day transmission on the Independence Day.

Azadi Train

Meanwhile, the special Azadi train continuing its month long countrywide journey from Peshawar has now arrived at Rawalpindi Railway Station.

The Azadi train will leave Rawalpindi for Karachi on Monday.

The train displaying different aspects of Pakistan movement as well as culture and traditions of the country will stay in Rawalpindi for two days. The general public can visit the train without any ticket.

Pakistan Railways has also decided to increase time and area of travelling of Azadi Special train to entertain maximum people.
