KABUL- Baghlan provincial police said on Saturday that Taliban insurgentsdestroyed an electricity pylon in Baghlan province late Friday night.
According to the officials, the destruction of the pylon, which transmitselectricity from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, has left Kabul without power.
Local officials from Baghlan province said Saturday that heavy clashesbetween security forces and Taliban are currently underway.
According to local officials the clash started early Saturday in Kelagaiarea after a group of Taliban attacked a police check post.
Baghlan police said early Saturday the clash was ongoing and that theTaliban had closed Kabul-Baghlan highway to traffic.
Later local officials said the highway had been reopened to traffic butclashes were ongoing.
Baghlan police said that during the clash one policeman who was travellingfrom Kabul to Baghlan with his family was killed.
No further details were given and no information on further casualties wasreleased.
The Taliban has not yet commented on this.
