KABUL – On Sunday night a large group of Taliban attacked the Farahdistrict center and captured it, the MoI said.
The Afghan ministry’s deputy spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said that air andground forces managed to push the Taliban back from the district center butthat clashes are ongoing in some areas.
Rahimi meanwhile confirmed the death of eight security force membersincluding the district police chief.
He said however that dozens of local and foreign Taliban fighters had beeninvolved in the attack.
According to him at least 56 Taliban fighters have so far been killed anddozens more wounded, especially in the airstrikes.
