ISLAMABAD – The daughter of Bushra Bibi, who happens to be the wife ofprime minister-in-waiting Imran Khan, has joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI).

Mehru Hayat, Bushra Bibi’s daughter from her past marriage, joined theImran Khan-led PTI along with her friend, Farah Khan on Monday.

Bushra Bibi said on the occasion that working to resolve women’s issuesremains her foremost priority.

The first lady-in-waiting was previously married to a senior customsofficial named Khawar Fareed Maneka, however, the couple parted ways a fewmonths ago.

Imran married Bushra Bibi, his spiritual adviser, in a private ceremony inFebruary this year.

Bushra Maneka is in her 40s and belongs to the Wattoo clan, of which theManekas are a sub-clan.

The PTI chief has been married twice before. His first marriage was withJemima Goldsmith, daughter of a British billionaire in 1995. The coupledivorced in 2004.

Khan’s second marriage to Reham Khan dissolved 10 months after a publicceremony had taken place in January 2015.

The PTI earlier today formally nominated Imran Khan as the party’scandidate for prime minister, after emerging victorious in the generalelections held countrywide on July 25.
