ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman and the PrimeMinister-in-waiting, Imran Khan has announced that he would hold himselfaccountable in line with British legislature traditions and would take partin the question-answer session every week.
Addressing the parliamentary party meeting, the upcoming PM expressed thathis objective was not to become a lawmaker or premier but to fulfill thepromises made in the election campaign.
‘I would not demand anything from you which I cannot fulfill myself,’ vowedthe cricketer-turned-politician and added that he would appear before thelawmakers and answer their queries for one hour per week.
‘We would also hold the ministers accountable in a true sense,’ announcedKhan who is due to take the oath of his office in the next few weeks.
The 65-year-old politician claimed that the PTI government would face amorally weak opposition, taking a sarcastic jibe at his arch-rival, MaulanaFazl ur Rehman.
He admitted that Pakistan was facing an economic turmoil at the moment forwhich the government would make efforts adding that the overseas Pakistaniswould be contacted in this regard.
‘The masses are looking forward to you for your policies,’ said thePM-elect.
Khan, whose party had secured 116 seats in the General Elections 2018,expressed that it is a rare development that a third force had emerged outof a two party system.
‘You have to show unity for uplifting the impoverished class of the societyas the people perceive PTI as a different political entity,’ announced theupcoming premier.
Khan expressed that he had toiled for 22 years for witnessing the day buthastened to add that he carried a massive baggage of responsibility
