KABUL – Taliban group outlined its demands for peace as an intra-Afghandialogue kicked off in Moscow the capital of Russia this afternoon.
The former chief of the political office of Taliban in Qatar Sher MohammadAbbas Stanikzai said the group believes that the current stalemate of thecountry has a political solution.
Stanikzai further added that the Taliban group seeks the establishment ofan Islamic system in the country but ruled out plans to monopolize thepower, claiming that Taliban fights a holy war as the war has been imposedby the United States on the group.
He also demanded the removal of the names of Taliban leaders from theblacklists to enable them to take forward peace negotiations from variousaddresses.
In other parts of his speech, Stanikzai said the ongoing propaganda againstthe group must end, claiming that Taliban has never been involved indetonating bridges, poisoning of school girls, and killing of civilians inroadside bombings.
Calling the existing national constitution as illegitimate which depictsthe western constitution, Stanikzai said work should be done on a systemwhich is acceptable to Afghans, insisting that the current constitution isa major barrier on the way to reach to a peace deal.
According to Stanikzai, a new constitution should be drafted and ratifiedby the religious clerics and other scholars of Afghanistan which should beacceptable to the Afghan nation.
