KABUL – Atleast five civilians were killed or wounded in a suicide car bombattack in central Logar province of Afghanistan, the local securityofficials said.

The incident took place on Monday evening in the vicinity of Puli Alamdistrict, the provincial capital of Logar province.

Officials in Logar’s security commandment said at least two civiliansincluding a woman and a child were killed and three others were wounded inthe attack.

The officials further added that the target of the attack apparently wasthe convoy of the foreign who were leaving an Afghan army compound.

The Taliban group has claimed responsibility behind the attack.

Logar is among the relatively volatile provinces in Central parts ofAfghanistan where security related incidents occasionally take place.

This comes as the anti-government armed militants have been attempting toexpand their foothold and destabilize the provinces in the central parts ofthe country during the recent months and years.
