Pakistan’s official stance over Iran Nuclear deal surfaces

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has called upon all the parties to honor theircommitments regarding the implementation of Iran nuclear deal also known asjoint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Faisal while responding to aquestion at his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday said theJCPOA represents a very good example of international cooperation and thesettlement of disputes through negotiations.

“We fully support the deal and call upon all the parties to honor theircommitments, all countries should trust the competence of the InternationalAtomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to provide assurances regarding theimplementation of the deal,” he said.

To another question Muhammad Faisal said, ‘We support Afghan led, Afghanowned peace process.’

He went on to say that there is no organized presence of terrorists onPakistan’s soil; however the porous border between Pakistan and Afghanistaninvites opportunities for movement of terrorists from either side.

“We have therefore strengthened border management on our side and hope thatAfghanistan and NATO forces would strengthen border management on theAfghan side,” he added.

In his opening remarks the spokesperson said Pakistan-Russia friendship isfast evolving into a mature partnership.

He said relations between the two countries are today characterized bymutual trust, commonality of interests, and convergence of views onimportant regional and global issues.

“Both countries have similar stakes in durable peace and stability in theircommon neighborhood, and harbour shared aspirations for regionaldevelopment and prosperity,” he said.

He added Pakistan welcomes the historic Summit between President MoonJae-in of the Republic of Korea and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the DemocraticPeople’s Republic of Korea at Panmunjom on 27 April, 2018 and hopes that itwould lead to lasting peace, prosperity, stability, reconciliation andcooperation between the two Koreas as well as in the region.
