Imran Khan offered to make me Punjab assembly Speaker: Pervaiz Elahi

ISLAMABAD: PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi has claimed that PTI chairman Imran Khan has told him not to leave his Punjab assembly seat and had offered to make him the speaker in the assembly.
“Imran Khan told me that it was his desire to make me the Speaker in Punjab assembly,” Mr Elahi told. “Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain told Imran Khan that we are not setting any pre-conditions and we would support you openly.”
He said the power-sharing formula could be discussed later.
The PML-Q leader said Imran Khan has never criticized his party leadership. However, he said that there are people with vested interests, who did not want to see Imran Khan successful.
He did not take any names of people who he says are opposing a PTI-PML alliance.
He clarified that the chief minister would be from the PTI and the PML-Q MPAs would support its nominee.
The PML-Q leader said that there were people in the PML-N’s ranks who would vote for him in the election for the Punjab assembly speaker slot.
